Edinburgh, Scotland - Walk about

(Timezone: UTC) We actually started the vacation on the 17th, doing a series of flights, SFO->TOR->LHR->EDI . Air Canada to London, British Midlands to Edinburgh. Twenty-two hours of travel, landing around noon on the 18th. Even after this, we managed to stay awake long enough to grab a fish and chip dinner.

Monday the 19th was spent poking around the Royal Mile area and adjusting to the jet lag. Some pictures of the Princes Street Gardens, and surrounding areas are included below. Dinner was at the Sheep Heid, Scotland's oldest surviving public house (Established in 1360 AD). Neeley suggests the bangers and mash.

On Tuesday we continued our walk about in Edinburgh, this time going on tour at the Palace of Holyrood House. It was also a day to sample fine food, I had a deep fried Mars bar. Mars bars are similar to 3 Musketeers bars here in the states, whipped chocolate, but also a layer of caramel. To create this delicacy: take the chocolate bar, batter dip it, drop it in hot oil, wait 2 minutes, pull it out, and hand it over to be consumed. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was very similar to "eating" a hot chocolate drink.

After my fine dining, we stopped into Plaisir du Chocolat for drinks and snacks. We sat and watched the rain, while sipping our delicious tea and eating cake.

After the rain slowed down, we went back out to explore more of the Royal Mile, and make our way to Neeley's favorite restaurant in Edinburgh, Kabab Mahal. Kabab Mahal is a great Indian place, with some of the best spicy food we've eaten. After dinner we went to Jarred's office to watch a World Cup semi final match on a video feed on his computer (Victims of the British TV Tax). The rain stopped just before 9pm, and I was able to snap the picture of the rainbow from an office window.
